"Sunlight slights along the branches of a cold, winterly forest. Johanna hastens through the thicket. Her breath goes heavy and irregular, boughs scatch over her face and arms. Her face seems in stone, only her pupils scanning the environment for the right way. She discovers a lake flimmering through the trees, not to far from her position.
Close to a tree by the Lakeside, sits Karl, 60, holding a fishing rod. Blonde hair in grey strand falling tangled in his face. His appearance and clothing is simple, comfortable and well chosen for a cold day as this is. His face is streaken with little wrinkles, giving him a friendly and life-knowing look. It is a peaceful picture, and Karl seems fairly happy with his day.
Like out of nowhere Johanna appears on the edge of the wood. A few birds lift up shrieking. Johanna stopps abruptly and stares short breath at the lake. She doesn't notice Karl, who looking with a hint of anger first at the birds and than inspects her.
She walks toward the water, as if she is of no own will and some imaginary force makes her to. Not noticing the cold, she steps into the lake, ignoring the fact, that she is fully in clothing. The water slowly encircels her legs, creep up her jeans, embrace her hips. The lakes sucks Johanna in, like through a not visible straw, until he fully swallows her. Than the water goes back to it's silent, motionless wintersleep.
Karl watches the scene in awe. Seconds pass. Karl is frozen in his position. Than reality hits him, and he realizes, that Johanna is not coming up again. He jumps up and follows her into the water."
Johanna is an uninvited visitor in Karls World, wehre reading means entertainment and fishing is a form of soul recovering. Karl only speaks, when it is necessary and he certainly doesn't need others to experience himself. He chose to live isolated, has routinized his daywork, is pragmatic and stubborn.
But something about Johanna touches him, mirrows a hidden part in his soul and he understands, that he can't help her out of the dark corner of her mind where she is hiding, by putting pressure on her.
Mute and deeply distirbed does she lay on his sofa, while Karl waits that she is ready to return to life.
Part 2:
Berlin.
Johanna is a life loving actress in her late twenties as she gets hit by the stroke of love. Now she knows, that it is possible, the story of love at first sight.
Head over feet she runs into an affair with Nick, the man of her desire, celebrates with him with no sense for tomorrow through Berlins Nightlife. takes in whatever the moment brings. Life is a rush!
Slowly, and with out her noticing, the gap of addicted love opens up beneath her. And as she realizes that, it is too late, and she stands knee deep in it. The relationship turns into a scene of action with two egocentric characters. Johanna loses track of who is the perpetrator and who is the victom. As more she tries to untie herself ot if the relationship, the closer does Nick spin a net around them, hinder her against any good sense to leave him.
Johanna dicovers that she is pregnant and a glint of hope rises, that the child will heal their love. Unexpactedly Johanna begins to emancipate herself from Nick and grows into motherhood. She shifts her dedicated love from the man to the Baby and for a moment thee seems to be a chance for the three.
Unti the night from where there is no return...
